Looking for dust collectors?  If you haven’t noticed yet, they come in all shapes and sizes from many different manufacturers.  The problem:  pick the wrong size and it will not work.  Dust collectors depend on the type of dust, types of machines, sizes of take-off collars, source capture hood design and more.  So how do you make sure you’re buying the right equipment?  Simple.  TSM Houston (Texas Sheet Metal) will customize, build and install dust collectors that you need based on your specifications.  At TSM Houston, we also prepare fabrication drawings and have the capability to have our designs approved by professional engineers.

Now the only issue you have to worry about is choosing the model.  The most common types of dust collectors are cyclones, and employ inertial separation.

Inertial separators are the most basic variety of dust collectors. They are typically used as a pre-cleaner or a pre-filter for collectors with superior efficiencies. As pre-cleaners their primary function is to remove large particles from the air that could damage more complex dust collectors. In metal working operations they are also employed as spark traps.

Cyclone dust collectors:
Bearing a striking resemblance the Dust Collectorsweather phenomenon from which it gets its name, cyclones are large funnel shaped sheet metal tubes connected to ducts.  These dust collectors are often used in woodshops, machine shops, manufacturing plants, and powder processing plants.  Initially, dust and debris are sucked in at the top.  Next, air containing fine dust blows out of the other side (at the top), while chips and large dust particles fall out of the bottom into a container.  Dusty exhaust air is then either blown outside or filtered again through the use of media filtration.

So, whether or not the cyclone is your choice, trust TSM Houston to handle this, and many of your other industrial jobs, both small and large, including fabrication, maintenance, repair or installation.
